Project Overview
The restoration works at Blackfriars will focus on the roof and drainage systems, with the following tasks forming the core of our efforts:
- Removal of Existing Materials:
- Carefully remove the existing Welsh slate and set it aside for reinstallation.
- Remove the existing sand cast lead gutters, lead ridge, and flashings.
- Strip the existing felt and battens to prepare the roof for new materials.
- Installation of Sand Cast Lead Gutters and Outlets:
- Install new sand cast lead gutters and outlets, ensuring a robust and effective drainage system.
- Reinstallation of Welsh Slate:
- Reinstate the existing Welsh slate, supplemented by new slate where required, to restore the roof’s original charm and durability.
- Installation of Lead Components:
- Install a new lead capping to enhance the roof’s aesthetic and functional integrity.
- Fit new sand cast lead ridge and lead flashings, completing the roofing system with materials known for their strength and weather resistance.
