We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the restoration project at Little Massingham Church, Norfolk. This significant undertaking will involve extensive roofing, timber, and masonry works to ensure the preservation and longevity of this historic church.
Our expert team will be carrying out a range of essential works across multiple areas of the church, including the North Aisle, South Aisle, South Porch, and Chancel Roof.
Project Scope
North Aisle
Work on the North Aisle will begin with the installation of scaffolding to allow for the safe removal of the existing roof coverings. Once removed, necessary timber repairs will be completed before installing a new stainless steel batten cap roof system. The cast iron gutters will be repaired or replaced, and new code 5 sand cast lead flashings will be installed. To finalize this phase, masonry pointing work will be carried out around the new flashings, along with various stone repairs.
South Aisle
Similar works will take place on the South Aisle, where we will first erect scaffolding and remove the existing roof coverings. Once the timber works are complete, we will repair or replace the cast iron gutters and install a new stainless steel batten cap roof system. The final stages will include the installation of new code 5 sand cast lead flashings, masonry pointing, and essential stonework repairs to restore the aisle’s original character.
South Porch
For the South Porch, scaffolding will be set up to safely remove the existing roof coverings and carry out timber restoration. Repairs and replacements will be made to the cast iron gutters before installing a new stainless steel batten cap roof system. The project will also include the installation of new code 5 sand cast lead flashings, masonry pointing around the new flashings, and various stonework repairs to maintain the porch’s historic integrity.
Chancel Roof
The Chancel Roof will undergo the same meticulous process, beginning with scaffolding installation and the careful removal of existing roof coverings. Once timber repairs are completed, we will repair and replace the cast iron gutters, followed by the installation of a new stainless steel batten cap roof system. The final steps will involve fitting new code 5 sand cast lead flashings, along with masonry pointing and stonework restoration to preserve the architectural beauty of the chancel.
