In the heart of historic Norwich, there stands a place of spiritual significance and architectural wonder – Norwich Cathedral. Within its hallowed precincts, the St. Saviour Chapel has been chosen for a remarkable transformation. We are delighted to announce that DJS Metal & Lead Roofing Ltd has been awarded the prestigious project to restore the chapel to its former glory.
Project Description
The St. Saviour Chapel Revival Project is a testament to our commitment to craftsmanship and heritage preservation. Here’s an insight into the crucial elements of this monumental endeavor:
- Stripping of the Existing Sand Cast Lead Roof Sheets: The journey begins with the careful removal of the existing sand cast lead roof sheets. This process is akin to peeling back layers of history, unveiling the underlying structure and setting the stage for a comprehensive restoration.
- Stripping of Existing Flashings and Gutters: Alongside the roof sheets, existing flashings and gutters will be stripped, allowing for a thorough examination and restoration of these vital elements.
- Recycling and Replacement with New Code 7/8 Sand Cast Lead Sheeting: Sustainability is at the heart of this project. The existing sand cast lead roof sheets, flashings, and gutters will be carefully recycled. In their place, new code 7/8 sand cast lead sheeting, gutters, and flashings will be installed, promising not only a longevity but also a restoration that maintains the chapel’s historical authenticity. These materials will be supplied by the renowned CEL Lead & Hard Metals Ltd.
