We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the project at All Saints Church in Harston, Cambridgeshire.

The works will include internal lime plastering and redecoration, along with the removal and replacement of slate roof coverings. The existing lead gutters will be carefully removed and replaced with new sand cast lead gutters and flashings, ensuring both durability and authenticity in keeping with the church’s heritage.

In addition, masonry repairs will be carried out to preserve the fabric of this historic building and maintain its condition for years to come.

St Johns Church, Penistone

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the works at St John’s Church in Penistone.

The project will involve the installation of scaffolding followed by the stripping of the existing roof coverings. Timber repairs will be carried out to the Nave roof and gutters to ensure the structure is sound. New stainless-steel gutters and outlets will then be installed, along with a stainless-steel batten cap roof complete with batten roll ridge for a durable and long-lasting finish.

The works will also include new lead flashings and masonry repairs, preserving the church’s historic character while enhancing the longevity and weather resistance of the building.

St Andrews Church, Much Hadham

We are pleased to share that works are underway at St Andrew’s Church in Much Hadham, involving the full replacement of the existing lead roof coverings to the North Aisle Roof.

The project includes the erection of scaffolding, removal of the existing roof coverings, and the completion of necessary timber works. Our team will also be installing new stainless-steel gutters and outlets, followed by a new stainless-steel standing seam roof system and new lead flashings.

These works will provide long-lasting protection and enhance the overall integrity of this historic church building.

Project Overview

Removal of Existing Lead Coverings to the Bell Tower: The first phase of the project will involve carefully removing the existing lead coverings from the bell tower. This step is crucial to preparing the structure for the installation of new, more durable materials that will better protect the building from the elements.
Recasting of the Existing Lead Roof Coverings by CEL Lead & Hard Metals: As part of the restoration process, the existing lead roof coverings will be recast by CEL Lead & Hard Metals, specialists in leadwork restoration. This ensures that the historical materials are reused and revitalized in a manner that respects the building’s heritage.
Install New Sand Cast Lead Coverings in a Wood Roll Roof System: We will install new sand cast lead coverings in a traditional wood roll roof system using code 8 lead bays, including a lead gutter. This system is designed for durability and weather resistance, while preserving the historic aesthetic of the bell tower.
Supply and Install New Sand Cast Lead Decorative Boxing: As part of the decorative work, we will supply and install new sand cast lead boxing. This detailed craftsmanship will enhance the architectural beauty of Burghley House, adding a refined finishing touch to the roof restoration.
